Fire Proof Your Christmas Tree: "Fire Proof Your Christmas Tree

2 c. Karo Syrup
2 oz. Liquid Chlorine Bleach
2 pinches Epsom Salt
1/2 tsp. Borax
1 tsp. Chelated Iron

Make a fresh cut on the bottom of your Xmas tree with a saw. Try to cut level taking off at least one inch. Immediately after you cut the tree mix your fireproofing ingredients. Fill a two gallon bucket with hot water to within one inch of the top then add ingredients and mix well. Immediately stand the tree in this solution and let it sit for 24 hours.
Place your tree in a stand with a well where liquids can be poured (SAVE REMAINING SOLUTION).

After your tree is in the stand fill solution from the bucket into tree well using a cup or other smaller container.

Every day without exception , the well of the tree stand must be “TOPPED-UP” with the solution from the two gallon bucket.

Follow these simple directions & your tree will be fireproofed. (as Fireproof as possible!) It may save your home and family from those fire tragedies we always hear about around the holidays!

This is how it works: The Karo Syrup provides the sugar necessary to allow the base of the tree to take up water. Up to 1.5 gallons of water can be taken up by the tree over a two week period. Boron in the “Borax” allows the tree to move the water and sugar out to"

Applesauce Cake In A Jar

Applesauce Cake Baked in a Jar
Cream together
2/3 cup shortening
2-2/3 cups sugar
Beat 4 eggs
2 cups applesauce
Sift together:
3-1/2 cups flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cinnamon
1-1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. ground cloves

Blend into applesauce mixture and add 2/3 cup nuts. Pour into well-greased jars filling each one 1/2 full. (The jars must be wide-mouth pints - 8 of them, so the cake will slide out easily) Bake at 325 degrees for 35 minutes. Remove one jar at a time from oven: wiping seal edge clean. Put on lid and ring, screw on tight. Jars will seal as the cake cools. Store as you would regular canned goods.

In the Gas Tank: To Top or Not to Top?

In the Gas Tank: To Top or Not to Top?: "n the Gas Tank: To Top or Not to Top?
Gas Prices got you down?
By Liss Burnell (c) 2005

As gas prices soar to new seemingly never ending heights, you may be tempted to 'Top Off Your Tank', before prices jump even higher. Unfortunately, many don't realize that this is actually causing you to LOSE money!

You may already know that most gas station pumps are equipped with vapor recovery systems, (which are designed to feed gas vapors Back into their tanks to help prevent Air Pollution). What you might not realize is that when you attempt to 'Top Off Your Tank', the gas that you are attempting to pump into your vehicle may actually be sucked into the vapor line & pumped right back into the Gas Stations storage tank!

In addition, gasoline expands; By overfilling your tank, your vehicles vapor collection system may not work properly, resulting in a poorly running vehicle as well as higher gasoline emissions.

To prevent overfilling your tank, once the gas nozzle clicks, do not attempt to add additional gas to your vehicle. You'll save money in gasoline, emissions, car repairs, as well as protect the environment.

Other Tips to Save you Money & Stretch your tank:

1. Check your Tires, be sure that they are inflated at the correct air pressure. (Your car manual has this information) When"

Memory Game

I saw this on My Girls Friends blog and thought it was kind of fun so I copied it.
Here is a fun little game... leave a comment on my blog of a memory that you and I (me Debbie or any of my family members) have had together. It doesn't matter if you've known me for a short time or a long time, anything that you remember! Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It is pretty funny to read the responses. On your mark... get set... blog those memories!

Cookie Ice Cream Sandwiches

1 pouch Betty Crocker® chocolate chip cookie mix
Butter and egg called for on cookie mix pouch
4 cups ice cream, frozen yogurt, sherbet or sorbet
Multi-colored candy sprinkles or miniature chocolate chips, if desired

1. Heat oven to 375°F. Make cookies as directed on pouch, using butter and egg, except drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet.
2. Bake 11 to 13 minutes or until edges are light golden brown. Cool 1 minute before removing from cookie sheet. Cool completely, about 30 minutes.
3. For each ice cream sandwich, place 1 scoop of ice cream (about 1/3 cup) between 2 cookies. Gently press cookies together (ice cream should spread to edge of cookies). Roll ice cream edges in sprinkles. Eat immediately, OR to save for later, wrap sandwiches individually in plastic wrap. Place in resealable freezer bag, and freeze until needed.
High Altitude (3500-6500 ft): Follow High Altitude directions on cookie mix pouch.
